I recently aquired a Yanmar 276D, and am wondering if there is a name brand oil filter that I could use. I can only get to the tractor store on weekends, so I was hoping to pick one up at an auto parts store. Thanks for any help.

I called NAPA we have a heavy equiptment store in Oklahomathey were more than happy to cross referance the numbers for me. Then I took the NAPA number and had AutoZone give me theFram and the Deutsch numbers. Filter cost went from $13.47 to $3.16 a piece. Not bad savings for making 2 phone calls. Hope this helps. ....

"Will fit" filters are just that. They physically fit the application however you don't know whats inside and thats what makes the difference. Most will fit filters for the Yanmars were orignally made for gasoline engines, diesel engines have much more severe demands on their oil and hence the filtration media used in a diesel engine filter is different from gas. The few bucks or convience you save now will look mighty expensive when your engine is prematurely worn and you are looking at a rebuild job. We are a dealer I've seen this happen. Like the old saying goes you pay me know or pay me later. There are several dealers that would be happy to help you with genuine Yanmar filters at a reasonable price. Any competent NAPA store will be able to provide one for you. They should have it on the shelf and they are of high quality. ....

I always use the Yanmar OEM filters in my tractors. I am confused as to why someone would gamble an expensive engine for so little savings. Roger L ....
